Financial Assistance Program
The Roselle Park District is committed to providing residents with access to the life-enriching benefits of recreation, regardless of their financial situation. Participation in recreational activities supports physical health, mental well-being, and social connection for the youth of the community. The Financial Assistance Program is designed to help youth residents whose families may be facing financial hardship take part in our programs and services. Whether it’s staying active, learning new skills, or building community, we’re committed to making these opportunities accessible.
Eligibility
- The Financial Assistance Program is available to Roselle Park District residents only ages 17 and under.
- Evidence of financial need must be demonstrated. Factors defining need include household size, family income or extenuating financial situation such as excessive medical bills or current participation in public aid.
- Assistance is awarded to applicants and dependent household members only.
- Completion and submission of Financial Assistance Application along with all supporting paperwork are necessary to verify financial eligibility and residency. Incomplete applications, or those missing required documentation, may result in a reduced award or denial of assistance.
- The Department of Agriculture Income Eligibility guidelines for Reduced-Price Meals will be used to determine eligibility for Park District financial assistance. Annually updated figures can be found here: https://www.fns.usda.gov/schoolmeals/income-eligibility-guidelines
- Demonstrated excessive medical bills or demonstrated temporary financial hardship when the applicant does not meet the criteria for assistance based on the Financial Assistance Income Levels Scale will be taken into consideration for eligibility. All and any records to confirm income and /or temporary financial hardships will be considered to determine eligibility.

Application Process

- Prepare Documentation: Financial assistance is based on the documents provided and their alignment with Agricultural Income Eligibility Guidelines. Incomplete or missing documentation may result in a reduced award or denial of application. Applicants are encouraged to submit all required documents to maximize their eligibility for assistance.

Notification of award: You will be notified of your application status within 7 - 10 business days, if not sooner, via email.
Confidentiality: All the information submitted is strictly confidential and is not a matter of public record. Application materials will be accessible only to Park District staff involved in the review and approval process.

- 2 recent pay stubs
- Driver's License or State ID
- 2 current utility bills showing current address
- Completed program registration form

Guidelines
- This program is administered on a first-come, first served basis in accordance with available funding.
- Limited Funds are available for financial assistance and will be appropriated annually in accordance with the Park District fiscal year, May 1 – April 30.
- The Financial Assistance Program provides up to $350 in funding for each member of a household with a maximum of $1,050 per household per fiscal year. These funds can be used for most District programs and services and reduce the fee by 75% off the cost of each. Applicants must pay the remaining 25% toward the registration fee.
- Registration will only be processed once the completed application has been submitted, reviewed, and any required balance has been paid. Participation in programs cannot begin until registration is fully completed.
- Please allow 7-10 business days for processing.
- The Roselle Park District reserves the right to approve either partial or full funding or deny an applicant’s request.
- Awarding financial assistance does not ensure continued approval for succeeding fiscal years.
- Applicants who have not received financial assistance may begiven priority over previous recipients, to assist as many residents as possible.
- Information submitted in the application must be true and accurate. Fee assistance funds are legally recoverable if paid and awarded on the basis of false information supplied by the applicant and will nullify any future requests for financial assistance.
- The information submitted is not a matter of public record. The District will keep all application materials confidential and will not share the application materials with other individuals, organizations or agencies. Only District staff who review and approve scholarship applications will have access to the submitted materials.
- Financial Assistance is available for most programs and services excluding facility rentals, fitness memberships, ticketed events, contracutal programs and events, trips, and merchandise purchases.
- The Roselle Park District reserves the right to revise these guidelines at any time based upon criteria as approved by the Board of Park Commissioners.
